My dear husband worked from home today and it was fabulous! We grilled burgers for lunch and had a grand old time. I even spent time this morning doing dishes, laundry and cleaning and though to myself "holidays as a mom translate to 'yeay! I can clean uninterrupted while my husband watches our kids!'" I'm getting old. Also, I'm once again eating creme brûlée multiple times a day and think about it every waking second.
Ps- baby girl likes to put on her own pants.

Brady is two months old!
i know these are super crappy pictures, taken in a really dark room, on a cell phone. but it is what it is... the second child gets gypped.
oh, and he's wearing no pants. although maybe that part was semi on purpose because i always dressed abigail in a onesie and socks and loved it.
brady is a super sweet boy and i love him to death. pictures don't do it justice but he is gorgeous beyond all measure.
he also sports a pretty awesome bewildered sort of look... almost constantly. i initially had thought he had an unhappy disposition about life but it turns out that was just reflux. as long as he does miss a dose of zantac, he is one happy kid.
he smiles like crazy whenever we made eye contact, and especially after he's done eating, it's all cooing and smiling.
brady's sleep still leaves much to be desired. i feel bad saying that because i used to be up with him for hours at a time during the night just trying to get him to go back to sleep after a feeding... but it is still normal for him to wake up at least twice during the night. although sometimes it's only once, sometimes it's thrice. thrice is not my friend. the good part is that after a quick feeding, i pop him back in his crib with a binky and he puts himself back to sleep just fine.
during the day, his happy waketime is about 55 minutes to an hour. if he's awake longer than that, you'll know because he'll start to get fussy and his happy and content personality will turn sour. his naps vary quite a bit although i blame myself for that for being so inconsistent. again, the second child gets gypped. if we're out running errands, brady will sleep for several hours sometimes or maybe just nap for the parts we're actually in the car. at home, a nap could be 45 minutes (if he can't get himself back to sleep after that first sleep cycle) or it could be close to four hours (if i've forgotten about him or things have been super hectic that i haven't had time to wake him up for a feeding). totally my fault and i'm sure this is much of the reason his night time sleep isn't optimal.
brady is rocking a size one diaper and 0-3 clothes. he's noticeably filled out and is chunking up nicely. he's not a big kid by any means but he's not the scrawny little peanut that he used to be. it makes me sad that his newborn days are already gone but excited for everything to come.

the lack of posts
last week almost did me in. christopher was gone from early monday morning until late thursday night. and monday night i gave brady the last dose of his medicine before it ran out so tuesday, wednesday, and thursday, i was dealing with an unhappy, crying babe. there was a lot of awesome monday through thursday but a lot of difficulties and seriously, it put me back in survival mode. when christopher got home thursday night (which was particularly rough for brady... like he only slept less than two hours... of 8 or 9) i was so grateful he was home. and when we finally got both kids to bed and climbed in bed ourselves, i just cried. so so thankful to have my honey back. and i'm sure he was equally happy to come home to this emotional nutcase. that's what eternity is all about, huh? anyways... there's a million things i could blog about but i've got another million things that just need to get done and it seems like there's just never enough time. sooo, now i'm going to go to sleep and make a goal to do better this week. mondays are so cleansing for me. i love mondays.

Slumber party
Baby girl was so excited when my honey put Brady in her crib. And when we took him out kept telling us she wanted Brady to stay and sleep with her to tonight. Are siblings hard wired to love each other? It sure seems like it.

Mom in training
When I need help, this kid is worth her wait in gold. Like a million percent exceeding my expectations.
23 hours to go
It's just the three of us. Really missing that fourth.
Ps- apparently he didn't have very good service.

Seeing temples
Baby girl is a talking machine these days. Vocabulary explosion and now she's not shy to use new words and phrases. She narrates absolutely everything that is going on. To say I looooove it would be the understatement of the century. I'm obsessed.
Today she was doing this puzzle when she picked up a piece and said "this is part of the temple!" as she placed it in the puzzle. Confused, I took a closer look.
Makes sense to me. I'm actually shocked I never noticed the resemblance before. What a spiritually minded puzzle prodigy child I have.

Sunday stud and bubbles
Today I enjoyed two cute kids and a honey that spoiled me all day long. It was a good day. Having ward council cancelled this morning was just icing on the already delectable cake.

Wrapping dinner and teething
Last night after I got home from girls night I decided this might be the fluffiest snow I've ever seen. So I took a picture of my car. This morning the snow was even more gorgeous than anticipated. Winter wonderland.
Baby girl is getting her remaining three molars right now. All in complete unison. Explains why she's been so sensitive this week and staying awake during naps. And chomping her finger and finding binkies to bite through. Can't wait to get through this. In the mean time, baby girl has figured out that if she strategically places her thumb and index finger in her mouth just right, she has something for both sides of her mouth to bite on.
Also, she has got to be one of the most adoring big sisters ever. I was hoping she wouldn't be passive aggressive or resentful towards Brady. I had no idea though how crazy in love she would be with him! She's insanely helpful to me but that's a topic for another post. This is how she can get enough of giving him kisses and just being physically close to him. I was cooking and she was spending her time munching on clementines and sour cream sauce and just standing close to him. Then she told me Brady was yucky. I was so confused until I took a closer look. He was indeed yucky. With the remnants of her messy kisses on his forehead. I give him lots of kisses. But no one gives him more kisses than baby girl.
I made dinner for my pregnant friend. And in the five minutes before she came by to pick it up (her kids go to school in my neighborhood so it just made sense) I decided to wrap it with old wrapping stuff I had lying around. I put in party plates and wrapped several of those individually wrapped napkin fork knife utensil packets you get from restaurants (so she wouldn't have to do dishes) and wrapped some clementines and an avocado (I made enchiladas that she could just throw in the oven whenever they wanted to eat. And who doesn't love avocado slices wih their Mexican?!) and I'm sure she thinks I'm super weird now but I had too much fun throwing together this random wrapped meal with odds and ends I had at home. Because you better believe I wasn't dragging my two kids to the grocery store in that snow.
And Johnny poppers? I'm in love. These also deserve their own post. But in the meantime, getting these tiny little leather John Deere boots in the mail made my day. Or my week. Or maybe all of 2013. They'll go great with Brady's blanket from my friend sawah. John Deere post to come. I love my life.

a giveaway!
just kidding... kinda. you know i'm not that kind of blogger.
my mom just sent me an email this morning with a link to get a free razor in the mail from costco. it took me two seconds to fill out the info so i thought i'd pass it along to anyone else that always seems to leave their razor every time they go on vacation. just kidding... i really don't do that very often anymore...
http://www.costco.com/Venus-Embrace-or-Venus-Spa-Breeze-FREE-Sample.product.100017027.html
and even if you don't need a razor or hate free things... we all know how fun it is to get a package in the mail! worth it just for that.
