sunday, we had dinner at my relief society president's house. we walked in, took off our shoes, and headed toward the kitchen/living room area. as soon as we got to the kitchen, baby started crying. what?!?! chris turned around to me, completely perplexed, at the same time as i was asking him "what's wrong? did you hurt her?" because honestly, this kid doesn't cry for no reason (how'd you like that run-on double negative?). i thought for sure he must have bumped her leg into a chair or counter or something but after about 30 seconds we realized the cause of the squeal/scream/cry.
toto.
they had one of those tiny little yippee dogs scampering around the place with it's high pitched bark and tiny toe claws clickity click click clacking on the floor. really, it was more like a glorified rat, it was just that small. so of course when we saw our precious little baby paralyzed with fear and her eyes overflowing with tears... we busted up laughing and absolutely could not stop. it was the most hilarious thing you've (n)ever seen. made my day. even after we calmed her down, when she would catch a glimpse of that dog as he barked, she would get her scared face on and her eyes would well up with tears and unless you'd make a big distraction and start blowing in her face, more crying would ensue.
by the end of the night though, she was over it and before we left, we took a few pictures of her hanging out with toto... her first fear.
i think someday she'll be a dog person.
maybe.
awwww, precious. better get her more accustomed to dogs before you come visit again (you're coming to visit at sometime in the future, right?) Joshua hasn't had that fear, thank goodness, as Monkey tends to sniff his face (which she's not allowed to do), and lick his hands quite often.
