if i ever have to have a job, i want to be a professional organizer. talk about fulfilling.
anyways, today i thought to myself how i've been getting caught up in a bunch of stuff and not really doing anything that involves only me. i was in need of therapeutic alone time but i didn't really know it... until today... when i was getting it... by organizing. i was on the phone with my friend kirstyn. she'd called to ask me if i could come over next week to assess her apartment and tell her if there was a way to organize everything so that there would be room for her new baby that's coming late summer. if there wasn't going to be enough room, they'd need to start shopping for a bigger place to live. that's more than you need to know though. all you really need to know is that it's a dream come true for me when a friend will let me help them organize!
after we hung up i was so excited i looked for something of my own to tackle and i decided i had enough excitement and motivation to tackle my junk drawer... which has never been cleaned. we moved into our house mid june and this drawer has been a black hole ever since. occasionally i'd take out a few magazines or mailers or something to make space but that's it. seriously, it's been my catch all for everything that lands on the kitchen counters. because i can't stand clutter and i like everything to look neat. so i just slide it in this drawer and never look back. it's been a great system until lately when literally i couldn't fit anything else in it and stuff was getting tricky.
so today i emptied the entire thing. i stacked every receipt in there which is actually every receipt i've collected since june. i sorted, organized, found a new home for things. did you know there were actually six flashlights hiding in that drawer? SIX! there were so many crumpled receipts and stuff in there i didn't know there were any flashlights... much less SIX. it was shocking. i really should have taken before and after pictures because i loooove those. but that didn't occur to me until this very second.
anyways, because i'm a nostalgic kind of person, i took a picture of a couple of my favorite receipts. two of which i may have actually posted on here before... because i love them that much.
the first two are from kohls. i only go there if i get one of their "$10 off any purchase" coupons in the mail. and then i hit up the clearance rack for baby stuff that's 80 or 90% off... because i'm that cheap. check out the total and total saved. i'm pretty sure i'm not their ideal customer.
and while i was going through stuff i found an extra long receipt with a total more than double the grocery norm. well what do you know, it was my very first shopping trip here in parker! i'd flown in with baby girl and my in laws and honey was driving the u haul. and my mother in law took me and baby girl by walmart on our way home and i remember being sooo excited to just get to our house since i hadn't seen it since before we decided to buy it. anyways... that's where i was on june 14th 2011 at 7:17pm... just in case you were wondering.
and now i hear my honey! home from wisconsin!!!!
