our first night home

life is good.  i feel a little overwhelmed right now with needing to journal the past 48 hours but i don't want catching up to get in the way of blogging in the moment.

last night was our first night at home with brady.  remember how abigail was an "angel baby" and never ever cried?  well, i'd say brady is more of a "text book baby" and he cries every time i change his diaper or clothes and wakes up fussing to eat or be held.  he's a happy kid, he just actually requires attention sometimes.

so i didn't sleep much last night.  partly because the hospital told me to feed brady every three hours and it takes about one hour to feed, burp, change a diaper, and swaddle.  and partly because i'm still wired.  and mostly because it's absolutely impossible for me to sleep within earshot of a noisy newborn.  too many squeaks and grunts that put me on high alert.

so i'm pretty sure i didn't fall asleep at all before 3am.  and i slept for maybe 30-45 mins between the hours of 3 and 6am.  but i finally was able to fall asleep at 7am and it felt so good.  the thing that made my day when i woke up at 8:50?  (besides not having a bad headache/migraine greet me as was the case during pregnancy!)  well, brady was still sleeping and i could hear my wonderful husband in the kitchen helping baby girl with breakfast.  christopher came in a minute later and said "brady woke up a while ago but i looked at the timer and it only said two hours and twenty minutes (since he'd last eaten) so i just carried him around for a bit until he fell back asleep and i put him back in the basket."

thank you husband and thank you itzbeen timer.  both are already proving even more invaluable than last time!
