broccoli cheddar quiche

i made up my own recipe tonight.  as it happens more often than not, i'll get the idea that i want a certain dish for dinner... and then i'll look up about fifty versions of that dish online, on blogs and on allrecipes and maybe even in the handful of cookbooks i have.  and then i do whatever i feel like.

so while i used this recipe as a base guideline to follow, i'm just going to rewrite the recipe since i made some major changes and sometimes it's just easier to rewrite things than to try to list all of your alterations.  so check it out... my debut as a food blogger*.

broccoli cheddar quiche
cook and crumble six slices of bacon.  sprinkle on bottom of greased casserole dish (i do that precooked costco bacon in the microwave and just rubbed my bacon grease soaked paper towel all over the inside of the pan).
sprinkle cheddar over top of the bacon.  maybe 1/4 cup?
steam and chop broccoli.  maybe two cups.  layer evenly on top of bacon and cheese.
just for kicks, sprinkle more cheddar on top.  maybe another 1/4 cup.  wherever your heart takes you.
saute one small onion (chopped) and 3 cloves garlic in a little bit of butter.
whisk together onions, 4 eggs, 3/4 tsp salt, 1.5 cups milk (i used whole), 1/2 cup flour, and a big handful of cheddar.  pour over top of broccoli.
bake at 350 for 45 mins or until set (mine puffed up).  will be slightly brown on top.

ps- in case you didn't notice, this recipe is awesome because you're likely to have everything already on hand. i just got the craving tonight and was able to make it right away because i had everything already.  i don't typically have a crust on hand to use for quiche, so the bacon cheese layer on the bottom is perfect to create a delicious and easy and super flavorful crust.

*i'm totally kidding.  that's obvious, right?  and just for the record... measurements are approximate.  like that baking time.  mine baked for 40 minutes and then i turned off the oven and left it in there for at least twenty mins while i waited for my honey to get home.
