honey's out of town again. he left for st. louis this morning and doesn't get back til wednesday night. so instead of making dinner or something when baby got up from nap, we went to hobby lobby! if you check out any pictures i've posted that take place in our front yard, you may notice our fall wreath hanging on the front door. i never took it down. left it there clear through winter and now spring. well, on april 16th at 8:10pm, that wreath came down! and then my door was naked for a few hours while i crafted something new.
while baby ate dinner, i came up with this...
but then realized that with my house being on the right side of the street, the door handle on the right side of the door, and our driveway and walk way also on the right... those flowers would be better placed on the left.
so...
BAM. i made it happen.
which really isn't impressive at all since you just buy a $6 grape vine wreath and a stem of 50% off flowers, cut, and place. i didn't want to hot glue it because a) i'm lazy and b) my talents do not lie in crafting. i decided securing the flowers with bread ties would be best because a) i'm cheap and b) i have a million of them. this actually didn't happen though because a) i'm lazy and b) i thought it would be too difficult for me to manage. so if you come to my house and are critiquing my wreath while you wait for me to come to the door, feel free to just do a littler maneuvering with those flowers, they are literally just poked in.
there's a reason tutorials for this kind of wreath do not exist. and that you won't see this wreath going viral on pinterest.
total cost $11. and now it's on my door. hopefully it doesn't look too terrible in the daylight... i just wanted it out of my kitchen asap so i could clean. seriously looked like i had a team of lumberjacks over for dinner.
while i made this wreath at midnight, i hung out with my single sister emmy. on speaker phone. it used to be skype but then my laptop needed charging. speaker phone on my new razer phone. i'll rant about that phone situation another time. ps- tonight i found myself wishing for a bluetooth.
but i came up with an alternative solution. i'm just glad the speaker phone comes out of those convenient little holes you see there.
and then emmy and i said goodbye and i proceeded to clean the kitchen (typical before i go to bed at night) and eventually found myself hand scrubbing the floors and baseboards (not typical... ever).
so that whole a) and b) crap? a lesson on why you shouldn't blog at 2am.
ps- i tried on that new blue dress so emmy could see it on skype. and then, because i'm lazy, i never changed out of it. in case you were wondering, it is just as comfortable as yoga pants and completely correct clothing for crafting and kitchen cleaning.
now how do you like that alliteration?!
Carrie, I love the wreath! You did a great job and need to give yourself a little credit. Your creativity even translates into finding functional places for your phone that I may just have to copy one of these days. You're a genius. Plus, that color dress looks amazing! Hope you're doing well! :)
