granny and papa

these pictures are from last july but i don't think i ever posted about that trip to the farm.  or if i did, i didn't include pictures from my big camera.  so in case i still never get around to it... here are two favorite pictures from that trip.  my grandparents are the sweetest ever.

thursday at the farm

cosleeping = no sleeping [for me]

i was taking pictures of the beautiful flowers around grandmother's garden when a bird hopped out from almost under my foot (my foot was about to rest on that tree stump right there) and i was so startled.  but i was even more surprised to find this nest!  there were 11 eggs and i'm still curious to find out what kind of bird that was.

papa is the sweetest.  he insisted on walking out to tell us goodbye.

i can't remember the specifics other than that abigail wanted me to write out her name and then was dissatisfied until she crossed her l's to make an additional uppercase H.

she was being absolutely adorable.  especially in her faces.  she's the cutest when her mind is puzzling to figure things out.

dad continued to masterfully cut this mermaid cake.

from the front, it looked pretty normal.

but all i could think was "lean back!"  she was doing the limbo.

baby girl and her uncle wally.

gearing up for more airplane rides.  brady was all over it too.  he was not to be left out!

country to city

today feels like it didn't even happen.  all we did was go from the farm to atlanta.  but it took alllll day long.

we took a detour to pick blackberries and they had chickens and pigs and goats and bird things (what are those gray ones, anyways?!)

thankfully both kids slept on the way home.  baby girl for probably an hour and a half and brady took a few shorter naps.  they were both so well behaved in the car which was a pleasant surprise since baby girl spent the first fifteen minutes crying and fussing.  she had a rough morning.  girl needs her sleep.

photo fail.  and gps fail for that matter.  i'm back at navigating and i took us on a detour through atlanta.  we passed all the big sights like the church i used to volunteer at every sunday morning.
and the fox.  we also passed the varsity, world of coke, the aquarium, and about a third of the population of atlanta that was out running, getting in some last minute peachtree training.  it was fun driving down peachtree since thursday morning we'll be running on it instead.
he's got a knack for pulling the blanket over his head.
all she's ever wanted in life is friends.  and now she's finally getting one she can play with.  i love just walking in the room and seeing that she's made up a game that is amusing for both of them.
makes me laugh.  and i love that he always seems just as delighted as she is!
i logged many many hours on this at this age.  we need a side by side comparison picture.
the prettiest trash ever.
and the happiest
baby girl is always so interested in playing that she finds eating is annoying because it just gets in the way.  i gave her the option to eat at the table or eat in a high chair.  i guess she thought the high chair sounded like a fun way to switch things up.
gorgeous, heavenly ice cream
not pictured: late night target run with sarah.  she made the mistake of texting me that she was going and then i made her pick me up and take me with her.  i think sarah learned a lesson tonight.

a stolen picture

papa has been in the hospital with the flu since yesterday afternoon.  my granny is by his side 24/7 taking care of him but could you please send a little prayer their way?  it would be much appreciated.

"granny caught an alligator"

when i got that text yesterday i completely imagined my grandmother wrestling a 6ft alligator with her bare hands.  if you knew her like i do, this idea wouldn't seem so wild.  but, as it turns out, it was caught by a beaver trap.  and it was caught in that very pond you see pictured in the link.

looove that life on a farm.

the next batch of photos

from wednesday

someone heard the garbage truck driving down the street... and then we saw this.

i really love the little things.  especially simple acts of happiness and service.  the man driving the garbage truck saw the kids in the window and honked his horn at them.  and then the two men riding on back waved as they drove away.  it was like beauty queens waving on a parade float.  it was adorable.  but mostly because these kids loved it.  seriously, it made my day.

copy cat
later wednesday

baby and i picked up emmy from the airport on our way to the farm to get my grandparents.  we stopped at zaxby's.  always seems like a great idea at first.  and then i eat half of my food and want to puke.  anyways, baby wandered around shoeless and bow-less.  i'm getting lax.

even later wednesday... night time.

self timer always gets a great smile from baby.  and confuses papa a little.

they are so precious.

these are two adoring grandparents

thursday morning-ish

thursday night

her pj's say, "santa thinks i'm nice"

i couldn't even see through the viewfinder when i took this shot.  lucky for us though it turned out perfectly.
(with big booty belen)

lynell (lyndel) and weed (lisa)
don't make fun of weed's face.  she had surgery and one of her nerves was damaged so she actually doesn't have feeling in part of her face.
just kidding.  she's just trying to look weird.  really she looks like this.

i know i know.  she regularly has people stop her on the street to tell her how gorgeous she is.  and i grew up with that.

we somehow got in a strange position and then it led to laughing and weed unknowingly spilling her cup of water down my back while i whined something to the effect of "ahhhhh i'm weeeettttt!" as weed laughed and pretended to kick me with her pointy shoes while still unknowingly spilling more and more water down my back.

yup, go ahead and dab that up.

i have friends!  diana, weed, belen, lynell
we made homemade milky way ice cream.  you haven't lived until you've eaten this.

my favorite thing about this shot was that my mom took it and it is 100% candid.  even how belen is clutching her heart.

let's take special note about how belen looks like a polynesian child in this one

attempting to take a group photo.  don't put the two tallest people in the middle

better
now if only i had that mass of awkward fireplace pictures we took on diana's camera.  because pictures taken at that hour of the morning are always fabulous.

and they didn't go home til almost 3am.  it was fabulous.
