pictures from a day

just another day in the life...

brady woke up with a nasty diaper and horrible rash... he'd just had a bath the night before though, so we just did a quick soak in the sink.  why do my kids love drinking out of a spray bottle?

after all the tears of the diaper rash drama, this kid was happy as could be and ready to go.

but check out the bedhead.  both of my kids have always gotten such crazy bedhead.  is this normal or is it that they have to cram their heads into something for them to sleep soundly?

i spritzed him a bit to try to tame things.  this kid hates getting his hair done.

i love that these two are bff.  it's so precious.

although they make five times the mess when they're together... it's like their creative juices combine.

this is why it's crucial to move furniture when you clean and vacuum.  i'm not sure if this stuff all got pushed under here accidentally or if abigail has squirrel like hoarding tendencies.

also, here is a real question that i've been pondering deeply for the past several weeks... when is the best time to vacuum?  i've got two young kids so that rules out the hours from 7pm to 10/11am when they're sleeping... as well as that three hour chunk in the afternoon when brady naps.  during the awake times, there are always toys somewhere on the floor because they're playing, which makes it difficult to vacuum... but i can't just put all the toys away and have them watch a show while i vacuum because it's too loud for them to hear.  also, they're both somewhat averse to loud noises so they don't necessarily want to play in the playroom (hardwood floors) for 30 minutes all alone while i vacuum the whole house.  seriously, anyone have a good answer to this?  the current thing we've been doing is that i vacuum when chris is home and is able to play with the kids outside or in the playroom or feed them dinner downstairs while i vacuum upstairs and then he gets, them ready for bed upstairs while i vacuum the main floor.  i know it's not the end of the world, but it is annoying.  any suggestions or is this just our best option for the time being?

an ordinary day

we got groceries at walmart, ate a little picnic in our front yard, and colored with sidewalk chalk.  so obviously it deserved a blog post.

30 weeks

How far along:  30 weeks  (3.26.15)
Total weight gain/loss: 22 lbs
Maternity clothes:  yes... same as before.
Sleep:  not awesome.  the dreams are sooooo crazy and half the time i feel like i'm awake.  so i've been feeling more sleepy during the day although i've avoided naps so that's been good.
Best moment this week:  i could say getting my new minivan on saturday.  but the true best moment of the week was actually probably on sunday night when i installed abigail and brady's carseats side by side in the second row of it.  my car is so gigantic that their enormous carseats can easily fit next to each other and i'll have plenty of room for an infant seat too.  three kids on that second row and not even feeling squished?  yes, that's my best moment of this week.
Movement:  just a whole lot of movin' and shakin' going on around these parts.  there's been less big rolls this week and she hasn't been lodging herself in my right side as much.  but she's really active whenever i'm sitting down.  i'm guessing my walking and moving around lulls her to sleep but whenever i sit down in bed, she's all over the place.  it's pretty fun.
Food cravings:  i hate morning sickness.  it is back.  although thankfully it's not horrendous and it typically doesn't come on until 3:30 or 4 in the afternoon.  but the headache and being super picky about food is really annoying.  a few times, i've felt close to throwing up, but luckily haven't.  i'm just so thankful i feel pretty fine in the mornings so that i don't ever get really starving or worried about nutrition.  my favorite food of the week was saturday at steph's baby shower... her friend, lydia, made these amazing gluten free cinnamon pecan muffins that were to die for.  the taste and texture were so out of this world perfect.  i got the recipe.  i ate two muffins while i was there and took another one with me when i left.  ; )
Symptoms: afternoon/evening nausea and headaches, fatigue, crazy weird dreams.
Gender:  my heart is happy about another little girl to wear abigail's too small clothing.
What I miss:  waking up feeling like i actually went to sleep.  these dreams and airplane sleep are getting the best of me and when i wake up, i'm just needing some down time.  i want to feel unconscious... just close my eyes and see black.
Milestones:  i hit 30 weeks!  holy cow, only ten to go!
Theme: the week of morning sickness gaining momentum
What's different this time around:  ehh, i'm too lazy for this question.
Extra:  i'm shocked at how many people ask how far along i am or when i'm due and then follow up with "ohh, yeah, you've got a ways to go" or "yeah, that's not for a while" or whatever.  umm, am i the only one that feels like ten weeks might as well be four minutes?!  i am sooo not ready to have three kids.  or a newborn.  to start this whole thing over from the very beginning with another tiny human?  holy cow.  so i'm a little bit freaking out with how fast pregnancy is flying by... although i'm apparently the only one, because everyone else thinks june 4 is forever away...

my little rav 4

i wrote last week about the impending changes necessary for welcoming a third kid to our family.  and how for maybe the past two months, i've been getting so nostalgic about letting go of replacing my rav 4 with another car.  i'm a sentimental person to begin with and it's a fun car to drive and it's got a lot of memories.  well... saturday morning, honey sold it to a craigslist buyer while i was at steph's baby shower and that night, we bought a new minivan.  it's super nice, but of course i'm still missing the familiarity of the rav 4... so here's a post with some crappy pictures i took of it while cleaning it out thursday evening...

first, i had to get real life pictures of it.

the tassels in the top left are from our graduation hats (two yellow from byu and one black from stanford), my makeup in the ziploc bag in the cupholder, my lipglosses in the other little compartment, and the passenger side filled with library books, mail and grocery store ads, my purse, and abigail's preschool tote bag.  typical thursday.

my everyday view.

the two carseats in the back with toys.

and the mess underneath the carseats.  i just gave these seats a scrub down two months ago... that's how fast and easily they get dirty.  that's why honey kept insisting that i needed to get a car that wasn't very nice... because our kids would trash it.  but that's also why i told honey i needed a dark color car that had leather seats... so it wouldn't look dirty so fast.  i won.  ; )  although i will say that honey didn't really put up a fight at all after i explained the reasoning of it all.  he's a good guy.

the car looked so much better after removed all the carseats and kid crap and it felt so much bigger too.  honey was shocked at how much better it looked and was even pretending to be hesitant about selling it.

but that wasn't an option.  and in the daylight, it showed more of its true colors.  ha.

it served us well.  and a nice little couple bought it for their teenagers to share so i'm sure it'll serve them well too.

so long to my little rav 4...

Monday Monday

Saturday night, we paired my new car to our garage door. Then sometime that night while we were sleeping, it opened. And it did the same thing while we were at church on Sunday. So we got a little concerned about the safety issues of a garage door that opens at will and I googled the issue but didn't find a whole lot of help. Then that night, I discovered that our garage door code wasn't working anymore. What the heck?!

Luckily, my honey is great, and I woke up to this.

And around noon, brady was being super cute playing with his pretend food. And the chirping started with some smoke detector battery that was apparently low.

When honey came home, he got to fixing that too. And during his process of putting his ear up to figure out which one was beeping (what is it about the beeping sound that makes it impossible to identify where it's coming from?!), it stopped. So that was great. Except I'm sure it'll start again tomorrow as soon as honey goes to work and I'll get to listen to it for even more hours tomorrow! Ha.

Our trash and recycling used to always get picked up between 9:30 and 11:30. The past two weeks, trash pickup has been before 8am. And today... With our 30mph winds, recycling didn't come until literally after 5pm. Our street was literally covered in trash. Someone's big bin up the street had blown over and papers and cereal boxes and soda cans and water jugs were everywhere. Honey and brady and I did our part cleaning up and luckily Abigail and her friends got trash bags and helped too. Four trash bags later, it was all cleaned up.

Sadly, stuff was still getting blown over as the guys were doing pickup so there's still trash in everyone's yards, but it's not horrendous like it was before.

Brady was so excited to see the truck but wouldn't take his hands off his ears. He's always been a little sensitive to loud noises. ; )

I had brady skip his nap today... because I swear my kids know when nap time is and they choose that moment to run to the playroom and then play quietly and get along perfectly for an indefinite amount of time... And because he slept late and I didn't get him up til close to 11 when my visiting teacher came over. So of course when I decide that it's late enough that they can just play and we'll forgo nap time, they both come down and want to help me make dinner. So we all made stuffed peppers together which was fine because it was early in the day and we had plenty of time. Honey got home early, we picked up trash and played outside, ate, went on s walk to the playground, and then had the kids in bed by 7. Today was good but it felt long. A lot happened compared to our typical days. ; )

Sunday ballet bun

Sunday morning, Abigail asked if she could have a "ballet bun" in her hair for church. I thought it was great. And for the first time, we attempted a swirly ballet bun. I'm happy to say that it stayed mostly intact for the day.

Ps- why do kids go in and out of being able to smile on command?!

It's a legit swirly ballet bun.

I went to choir (we've been practicing he is risen and come thou fount) and found brady still awake in his crib when I got home and honey left for home teaching with Abigail in tow. Turns out he pooped and so we scrapped the nap. Right then, my mil texted and asked to stop by and see our new car since she was in the area so that was perfect since brady was sad that Abigail and daddy had left him. After Klaudette left, brady played bikes on the driveway a bit and then we walked to the church building. Honey and Abigail were already there setting up for a special fireside on parenting in a wild of technology.

And then I finished the day by taking a picture of my big belly (while brushing my teeth) and crawling in bed.

It was a good day.

An epic odyssey

The day started any any other day.

And then I went to steph's baby shower since she's in town for the weekend.

She's due exactly a week after I am.

Brady dressed up. Because he's always doing that.

Honey posted my car on Craigslist.

And sold it.

We picked out a new car and honey stayed at the dealership for paperwork while I took kids home and got them in bed.

Say hello to the beast. Bring on the third kid. I drive a minivan now.
