transportation museum and golden

our saturday outing was fun.  i took about 150 pictures, narrowed it down by 2/3rds and then put them on fb because i deemed that far too many for the blog and was too lazy to narrow things down any more.

the video that i actually wanted to put on here keeps having troubles because blogger hates me.  so you get these other two random shorter videos instead.  surprise, surprise.

tomorrow's family date

last week baby girl and i were out of town until late friday night and this week we've been kinda lacking on family time together because i've had stuff going on in the evenings.  monday night i was planning something with the laurels, tuesday night was young womens, wednesday night was a presidency meeting, thursday night was stake auxiliary training for young women leaders, tonight i have quilting, and tomorrow night is the relief society broadcast.  so i've seen my honey in passing.  like one would see a babysitter.  honey arrives, we hand off the child, i leave.

so earlier this week, i had fun planning an awesome saturday date for us.  saturday family dates are my favorite.

after much deliberating, i picked the museum of transportation in denver.

then i thought, we should drive through the mountains to see the colorful fall leaves!

golden gate canyon is in it's peak right now...

and the park fee is only $7 for the day...

and it's close!  the museum is only a few minutes out of the way!

so we're going to get baby girl up early and let her eat a banana or granola bar (probably both, she's been eating like crazy lately) in her carseat while we drive to the museum and then we're we're done there, we'll spend the rest of our time enjoying the mountains and fall leaves.  i just hope we can get everything in since i have to be back in time for the 6:00 broadcast.

but seriously though, i'm so excited.  i even looked up hikes.  that's saying something.

so i'll take a minute again to address those not living in colorado... you should totally move here.  and then we can be bff in real life.  the amenities are excellent.

littleton historical museum

after our trip to the butterfly pavillion we decided to hit up the littleton historical museum.  last time we went was in march so this trip was definitely overdue.

she loved all the animals.  as long as they were at least ten feet away from her at all times.

check it out!  future birthplace of our first born son!
i had this brilliant idea earlier in the day that we should just have our kid skip her nap so we could live it up and play all afternoon.  well, she got kinda grumpy starting at her usual nap time.  and two hours after that she was fully unraveled at the seams.  she maybe spent the entire drive home crying on and off.  mostly on though.  making constant requests for things that were not possible for me to grant.  such as sitting in a baby rocking chair, giving milk to two men she saw running by, and fancy nancy.  i momentarily stopped banging my head against the window to take this short video.  which she happily watched the rest of the drive home.

so needless to say... next time i want her to skip her nap, it's gonna have to be for something really really worth it.

butterfly pavillion

today we went on a family date to the butterfly pavillion in westminster.  it was a hit.  kinda.

my least favorite part was at the very beginning.  the "crawl-a-see-em" made me uncomfortable on every level.  i don't even want to look over or narrate the pictures.  i'll just say i left chris in charge of showing baby girl around and getting her pumped about all the bugs and such while i walked around while attempting not to look at anything behind glass.  i needed to put on a brave face for my baby while my christopher taught her that bugs are cool.  i need to raise her right if i expect her to be able to kill spiders for me next summer.

then we went to the little marine section that didn't really make me uncomfortable although i can't really say it was enjoyable either.  this enormous starfish was pretty cool though.  the coral was my favorite.  go figure.

definitely the best part was the butterfly room although i'm not really sure what it was called.  anyways, it was gorgeous and awesome and i told my honey that when we become millionaires, we should definitely consider a butterfly/gardens room in our future mansion.  i've wanted one since i was little when i wished i could grow up and own the biltmore estate.

this butterfly landed on my purse!

they had an awesome butterfly lesson show something or other.

and during that, another butterfly landed on my hand!

sorry... it just doesn't get old.

and then we went around and kid all of the kid stuff.  and it occupied us a long time!

eating pictures are never flattering.  sorry baby girl.

this tube had a fan at the bottom so you could slide "butterflies" in there and watch them fly up and out.  it was by far baby's favorite.  second favorite was that bridge you see in the background.

have i mentioned before how much i love that she runs full speed with her arms straight out?  it's very endearing.

gift shop
and then because we couldn't help ourselves, we went back to the butterfly room.

check out all these different kinds!

the one on the top right is the tailed mormon and the bottom two are great mormons.

also notice the scarlet mormon, low's mormon, and common mormon.  we got a kick out of the mormons.

ps- i want to punch blogger in the face.
