easter festivities

today was another awesome day.

maybe the sun was a little too bright.
makes me look like one of those bloggers that doesn't post pictures of their child's face.
baby girl was all up in this tree... got every last egg.
we went to the egg hunt in my in laws neighborhood.  it was legit.  skittles, starbursts, these sugar coated lifesaver gummis...  loving the eater candy.  baby girl liked it too dangit.
easter bunny
honey and i posed for this family picture sans brady.
for some reason baby girl didn't want to actually bounce in the bounce house but she loved standing at the base of the slide and watching the kids go down.  she looked precious in a sad sort of way.  made me laugh.
happy easter from the hilliers!  we're starting to look like a real family!  just wait til we add our next five kids.  juuuust kidding.  three more will probably suffice.
abigail likes to know what the words say on all of her clothes and brady's.  chris was unaware of this tonight when i was at the young women's broadcast and he was at home with the kids... apparently a humorous and confusing situation went down when abigail repeatedly pointed to brady's shirt while telling chris "it's you big guy!"  "it says it's you big guy!"  ha.

mother son picture.  i know it's silly but having a son makes me feel so special.  not sure why but it 100% does.
hard at work

baby girl came to me sooooo thrilled that she put on her shirt all by herself!  (she's been dressing herself more and more lately and is getting really good at it!)  she excitedly looked down to show me thomas and... umm... immediately became frantic that she couldn't see him.  ha.
don't worry.  i helped her remedy the situation.
and we all lived happily ever after.  ps- i got her these pjs in 2T for christmas.  they shrunk a lot after the first washing.  luckily they went on clearance and i picked up bigger pj's for $3.  let the pj love live on!
honey woke up at 5:30 or something insanely early to play drop in hockey this morning.  then he took a nap this afternoon and then he fell asleep tonight sometime around 8 30 while i cleaned up the kitchen and got baby girl to bed.  i may have been slightly annoyed that he went to bed before our kid (to his credit, he actually got brady to sleep tonight before i got home from the yw broadcast!) but i thought it was no big deal since i was about to put abigail to bed anyways.  well, i was telling my sister emmy about this the other day but baby girl's ocd is getting a little out of control lately.  especially when it comes to bedtime.  tonight i made the trek up our stairs probably FIFTEEN times in the space of an hour.  our bedroom is downstairs and it seemed like as soon as i got in bed, i'd hear her on the monitor again.  the main issues of tonight were...

i need another hug
i need another kiss
my sippy cup is making noises (this accounted for at least four or five of the trips upstairs)
i have boogers, i need a tissue! (and then after i wiped her nose it was "throw it in the garbage!!!")
say goodnight!!!! (i literally walked in, said goodnight, and walked out again)
i have tears.  i have two tears.  (needing me to wipe her tears with her blanket... or just instruct her to do it herself)
i need my nightlight on! (because it's been sooo long that the timer reached its limit and the light went off)

the other night i went up and down those stairs three times at 1am with baby girl's random requests and then two times again at 2 am for brady.  i told emmy, this would all be severely annoying if i wasn't laughing at the humor of it all.  i used to go up and down those stairs four or five times a day.  now, it's got to be at least THIRTY.  and when it's between the hours of 9pm and 9am, you just can't help but laugh about it.  i mean, what other option is there?!

here's to another night!

Ward Christmas party

saturday night was our ward christmas party.  it was excellent.

not that impressed with santa

although she did like that he gave her candy canes

don't let her face fool you.  she loves this boy.

now go ahead and try to tell me he isn't the most gorgeous and best dressed little boy you've ever seen in your life. i dare you.  he's also bilingual.  when you hear him say "zoológico" it'll turn you to putty.

they're adorable.

Ice skating

for those of you unaware of what's going on in the NHL (that's hockey), i'll have you know that they're currently experiencing a lockout so there have been no hockey games this season.  so to make us, fans feel better, they offered a pizza and hot chocolate open skate family night for season ticket holders.  that's us!  well... honey's company actually but whatever... details details.  it was sooo much fun though.  baby girl had a blast and any time she wasn't on the ice or wasn't in motion it was incessant "i want daddy!  i want to skate!" so i'm pretty sure she's gonna be a child prodigy ice skating champ or something.

so here are pictures from tonight.  not sure why they're out of order... but i'm guessing it's my lack of technology skills.  i'm new to this phone blogging thing.  anyone want to help me out?  why're my pictures completely out of order?

ps- baby girl spent most of the time skating in her regular shoes.  we put real skates on her at the end for like ten minutes or something and she really liked it but soon requested her shoes again.  i'm with you baby girl... those skates are not comfortable in the least!

trunk or treat

this year, after much debate, baby girl ended up dressing up as elmo.  it was great and she giggled every time someone called her elmo instead of abigail.

my day was more than a bit hectic.  we started off our day by almost freezing to death as we attended the groundbreaking for our new church building in our neighborhood.  there are currently 4 wards (plus stake offices) meeting in our building right now.  it's a bit crazy so this new building is definitely exciting!  it was about 29* and muddy and sunny.  we had a number of speakers - stake relief society president, counselor in the stake presidency (my next door neighbor), the mayor of parker (fun fact: i had thanksgiving dinner with him way back in the day when chris and i were dating), my father in law - and a song from the choir and some random other things and it was great.  it was the first groundbreaking i've been to and i loved it, even if i'd lost feeling in my toes a third of the way through.  i did wear my skinny jeans under my skirt to keep me somewhat warm though and that turned out to be a very good call.

anyways... the day was hectic because after that i was busy cooking with baby girl and gathering together last minute things needed for the trunk or treat.  yesterday was my first time ever making cupcakes and i grossly underestimated the amount of time it would take to bake and frost two dozen of those suckers.  especially since i hadn't thought ahead enough to set out butter to soften so i had to take a bunch of time looking online for a decent frosting recipe that didn't require softened butter.  i was a hot mess by the time i finally got to the church at 4:30 to help set up.  honey took care of getting baby girl up and dressed in her costume.  i wish i'd thought to lay out her clothes before we put her down for nap but i didn't.  so i gave honey directions to dress her in all black, plus elmo.  i should have specified that she wear her red shoes.  instead she wore her pink moon boots.  i mean, snow boots.

everything turned out just fine though and baby girl had a lot of fun.  and i am super relieved to cross this off the list of things to worry about.

family picture!
i so wish we had a family picture from last year but apparently we don't.  just this one of baby and me.

but we do have this family picture from 2010...

as well as these from 2010...  can you believe baby girl actually used to be a baby?!

i forget sometimes, or all the time, that baby girl used to actually be a baby.  one that drooled and ummm basically just drooled and did nothing else.  couldn't stand, couldn't sit, couldn't talk.  basically like a stuffed animal that required feeding.  which is funny because that halloween that she was a monkey, i had so many people (we were living on stanford campus) see me holding her and do a double take, then come back and tell me that they'd initially thought she was a stuffed animal and didn't realize i was holding a real baby.

and that concludes our stroll down memory lane...

i'm guessing baby girl played hide and seek at joy school this past wednesday because she came home talking about it when i didn't even know she knew what hide and seek was.  last night, she did this...

and waited for my honey to come find her.  it was precious and she thought it was the best game ever.

so a minute later i was standing in a different spot and she decided to hide again, telling me "i want daddy come find you."  ("you" means "me"... like how she always says "i want mommy hold you")
hiding
so christopher would look around saying "is abigail in this cabinet?" and "is abigail in the oven?" and  every time she would quietly answer him.  except of course she said yeah to everything.  because unlike most toddlers, she almost never says "no."  even when i ask her if she wants a banana and the answer is no, she'll answer by saying "all done banana."  ha.

my christopher shaves far more often these days (basically every day except saturday) than what he used to (see the above picture from 2010) at stanford when he typically just shaved once a week... for church.  still, that didn't prevent him from accidentally grooming elmo with his face.

i wonder how long it would have stayed there if i hadn't mentioned it to him.

and just one more thing of non importance.  have i mentioned lately or ever, that christopher never really got over holding baby girl like a baby?  i reached a point a looooong time ago that i stopped cradling her because i knew she didn't like it and it was easier to hold her upright.  my honey still hasn't reached that point.

and this was my costume this year.  because i'm not into halloween enough to put forth effort for something i'm going to only wear for two hours.  this required duct tape, scissors, and about six minutes of my time.  and i've wanted to do it for years but this is the first time i've been pregnant over halloween!  (except for 2009 when apparently i was knocked up but just hadn't taken a pregnancy test yet...)

and this is what i decided to use for my 31 weeks bump update.
man that was long.  people that aren't spending this afternoon blogging, what do you do on a sunday afternoon when your husband and child are asleep?
