sunday

i take way too many pictures to keep up with.

colorado weather is crazy.  t-shirt weather sunday, then lightening, then snow, then clouds, then sun, and by friday you're back in business for a day at the park!
baby girl is a fan of hats.  she likes for pooh to wear hats too.  unfortunately, he only has one that fits him... and this one wasn't it.
leave a brady unattended and you're likely to find this when you come back.
this is a hug and a kiss.  brady is so familiar with this that it does not elicit fear or crying.  they're going to be bff... i can just tell.
baby girl got in some quality ipad time during sunday morning session of conference.
actually... i think this is the real bff relationship of the house.
baby girl never used the bumbo much as a baby.  she used to just twist her body right out of it.  finally she fits it properly.  which, sadly, leaves brady stranded on the floor.  someday you'll get your turn.
i swear i'm the master of free stuff.  i initially just went to get some size 8 stuff for my sister's kid but when i got there my friend said she just wanted it gone.  so i took it all.
who doesn't love hand-me-downs?!
and these were actually the only things in size 8.  and my sister politely declined.
sometimes i think brady might have trouble holding his head up because his eyelashes are so heavy.  they're a showstopper.
 and that was sunday.

my running narrative

here are some more pictures and the running narrative of my life.  not my narrative of running.  we all know i don't run.  maybe someday?  i mean, i used to not cook and look at me now!  i'm a certified top chef for sure.

anyways...

first of all i just want to say thank you for all of the kind words i receive each week when i post a baby bump picture.  i don't even care if you're just saying things insincerely just to be nice, i appreciate it.  last pregnancy i was too self conscious.  not necessarily of my body but of my face.  i get pregnancy face and i haaaate it.  know what i mean by pregnancy face?!  there's just something about it that makes you look frumpy and tired and out of it when in all actuality you should look normal.  it's like when you get a cold.  there's just something different.  and then terrible people (you know who they are) stop to ask you if you're okay because you "look tired."  i try to look somewhat presentable when i take a bump shot but it's never great.  but i do keep your compliments in my heart for days like yesterday when i stay at home cleaning and my bump shot looks more like this...

frumpy belly bump, taken 10.5.12 at 28 weeks and 1 day
yesterday i spent an insane amount of time going through baby girl's clothes and shoes.  stuff that's too big, too small, out of season, etc.  categorizing everything, labeling, and packing it away for future use.  a true testament to how slowly my child grows...

this box contains every article of clothing she has outgrown in her lifetime so far. i even finally packed away that newborn size dress she worn as a shirt this summer!  it's okay, she's only 27 months old.

conference today has been amazing.  for first session i'd have to say that my favorite talks were the first and the last.  although i missed the first part of president uchtdorf's talk because direct tv decided it couldn't work when the sun wasn't shining.

i'm anxious to you tube it and see what i missed!
after morning session was over, honey decided to take baby girl on a little bike ride.  she'd been cooped up inside for 48 hours from the cold weather and my sheer laziness so we thought it was worth it to battle the 34* weather.  she was adorable all bundled up.  good thing she doesn't know yet how to be embarrassed.

paparazzi shot.  maybe she does know how to be ashamed after all.

i can't help it.  i love how her hat's ear flaps push together her cheeks to accentuate the precious moments look. is that what i'm thinking of?

i should have timed how long they were gone but baby girl ran to me in bed bearing gifts of autumn leaves and honey came in with a resounding "IT'S FREEZING OUT THERE!!!"

thanks baby girl.  for tucking those up so nicely under my sweat pants clad bum.

the cheeks!  ps- baby girl was watching elmo and abby yesterday and has told me at least ten times since then that she wants freckles.  me too baby girl but we weren't blessed with those.  oh how the "my body" wish list starts young!

the plus side to flurries outside invading your fall.
second session of conference brought us many words of wisdom... and a package from sawah for little baby boy hillier!

so fun and exciting!!!

john deere!!!
this blanket is perhaps the bounciest blanket i have ever experienced!  all of those squares are like cloud packed pillows.  and the fabric is so soft!  the whole back of it is the bumpy minky and if little baby boy ever thinks about drooling on this i might cry a little.  it's amazing!  thanks sawah!!!  i love you!

flying bunnies and my excellent day

today was wonderful.  i have so much to post but some of it will have to wait until tomorrow and monday and probably tuesday.  because let's get real, my blogging hasn't been too spectacular lately.

so we'll just do everything as bullet points so it's not too overwhelming for me.  i don't forget this glorious day... which don't hold your breath, it's just an ordinary day that i happened to love in an extraordinary way.

- i slept in until 9 30... and probably would have been able to sleep longer except that my honey got bored and woke me up.  for some reason (it's far too bright in my room) i wake up at 6 30 every day and then spend the next 2 hours in that half awake state, attempting to get back to sleep.  so this was pretty epic.

- honey was itching for a walmart trip (but not a family walmart trip because he hates those, and rightfully so because we can never seem to get through one still liking each other) so i told him he had to get a few things on my list (cinnamon rolls, kettle corn, an onion... y'know... the odds and ends i somehow missed this week) and he volunteered to take our baby with him!  i can tell he loves those little outings with just him and baby girl.  anyways, i took the opportunity to pack some fresh fruit (with my little fruit fork, carolyn!) and a book (i just started atlas shrugged today) and headed to the pool to actually LAY OUT.  i loooove laying out and have been obsessed with it since i was like 5 or something... can't remember exactly but i do remember my mom taking me to the pool and asking me why i kept sitting in the chair instead of swimming in the water.  ha.  the difference is that i used to get super tan and black and now i have a baby and am more responsible about life so i cover myself head to toe in 30 spf.  never anticipated that happening.  i will be white forevermore.

- i left the pool because the clouds came rolling in and the thunder started.  i stayed for a while since it was breezy and the sweat it out heat was replaced with perfect pre-storm air but then eventually i missed my honey and baby so i headed home and they were outside on the driveway.  baby girl was riding her bike and honey was planting more little seedlings (i'll have to blog about that sometime... for honey's posterity to know that at one point he loved his little seedlings as if they were his own offspring) or something.  we all hung out like that in perfection for a while and then frantically moved a pile of rocks while the rains started pouring down on us.  it made me laugh while i was running rocks back and forth and it kinda made me feel like it should be part of a movie.  and then we came inside.

- we opened the window so we could listen to the storm and i watched the downpour outside while baby girl ate her lunch.

- then i had the most awkward experience ever.  this will need it's own post.  just thinking about it makes me want to die.  seriously.  and maybe stop going to church too.  so wish me luck tomorrow.

- honey put baby girl down for nap, we watched tv together, and then i got the bug to organize our food storage in the basement.  this may have caused a little disagreement between honey and myself and short story shorter... he needed some alone time and ended out passing out in bed upstairs while i organized our food storage in the basement for an hour or two.  i lost track of time and was brought back to reality when i faintly heard my baby's cry and then glanced at my watch, panicked that it was 7:20.  ran upstairs to realize that honey was asleep and that baby girl was still in her crib from nap!  disclaimer: she didn't go down until 3 and had a super long nap.  i would have heard her earlier if she'd been awake earlier but i think she must have slept for at least 3.5 hours.  we'll never know.

- my organizing bug kept going strong and i cleaned out my car, and did an organizing overhaul on our garage.  combine this with the food storage overhaul, vacuuming for the first time in who knows how long (okay, i can't take credit for that... honey vacuumed the whole house this morning... but it still made me feel accomplished), cleaning out baby's closet, and doing a whole number of smaller tasks... the day was a success.  i've been slacking on the whole domestic housewife thing lately so this helped get me back on track a bit.  oh, and last night i reorganized our freezer (maybe not all of it but the parts i did look awesome!) and the fridge.  i need credit for those too.

- i didn't put baby girl to bed until 10:15 tonight. her sleep schedule has kinda shifted back two hours over the course of the past two weeks.  but whatever... having a baby that sleeps til 10am has it's perks and honey and i loooove that playtime with baby girl at night.  she's always so silly and happy.  tonight it was dancing... of which i have videos.  that will also require it's own post.

ps- yesterday i saved a baby bunny's life.  and today i saved another baby bunny's life.  here are pictures.

it fell into the window well for one of our basement windows and had no way of getting out.

jumping bunny
and in this picture i swear he's allllmost flying.

and here's baby girl.  doing this thing she likes to do lately.  she lays on her stomach and slides herself (forward or backward) all over the kitchen.  i should just dampen her pj's and it could replace that whole "mopping" thing that i never seem to get around to.

and then she asked where daddy was so i told her he was sitting on the sofa and she went crawling away like this.  i called out to her, "baby girl!  are you being stealth?!" to which she promptly and loudly replied, "YEP!"  man, how that kid makes me laugh.

my life is too wonderful i swear.

an awkward kiss

this morning while i was getting ready, baby girl admired herself in the mirror and then diapered her baby 100% by herself.  i took a picture of it because this is the best job she's ever done completely on her own.  i clapped and cheered and made a big deal about it.  she seemed to know she'd done an awesome job too.

the legs aren't poking through but look how nice and even that is!

and then she ripped it off and we were out of there!

as she said over and over, "i go bye bye."

then baby girl put the baby doll in this empty laundry basket and said "it's baby's nap."  so i told her "ohhh, then you better give her a kiss goodnight.  and then ensued the most awkward kiss i have ever seen.  i soooo wish i'd been using my point and shoot so i could have gotten a quick video.

but even after all of that, she wasn't ever able to get close enough for a kiss.  so she stepped back and reassessed the situation.

new game plan: get inside of the basket and pull the baby up to you for a kiss.

success!
yes, that did the trick.  my baby has been kissed.
night night baby.
and then we were off to the park.

red shoes and babies

i know i've mentioned it before but baby girl developed an opinion about her clothes much earlier than what i had been anticipating.  it hasn't become out of control at all but i do like to humor her when i can.  so depending on the appropriateness of what she picks out, i'll let her pick out one element of her outfit and i just try to match the rest.

well, all winter baby girl's red church shoes have been her very favorite but she could only wear them on sundays.  now that it's warmer though, baby has developed new favorites... a whole new world of... SANDALS!!!  well, on an unusually cold day last week she was wanting the sandals.  not gonna happen baby girl but what if i let you wear these red shoes?!

and on that note we struck a compromise and headed out for our playdate.

but we had a few minutes to kill before we needed to leave sooo... picture time.

she's crossing her legs!  i thought this was equal parts cute and hilarious.
she loves to jump off of anything and everything.  i NEED a video of it.  when she jumps in place, it's probably one of the cutest things she's ever done.  literally.

and if this hasn't been said yet... baby girl's newest obsession is babies!  i mean, i think she might even like babies more than shoes and cell phones combined.  all day all i hear is "BEEEBEEEE!  BEEEBEEEEEE!!!!"  and this doll is her favorite (it's also the only lifelike one).  it was free from a friend and it looked like crap but then i bought it a preemie sleeper from walmart and it's as cute as can be.

she hugs him.
she kisses him.
she quenches his thirst.
and hers.
everywhere we go, she'll yell out if she sees a baby.  and to her baby = any child under the age of ten.

so when i got baby girl up from nap, i took off her sleeper and put a diaper on her.  while i went to her closet to get her play clothes, she found her baby doll in the hallway, grabbed a diaper from her basket, and started putting a fresh diaper on him (on the outside of his sleeper... we haven't learned that detail yet).  once i helped her get that diaper strapped on him, i put her clothes on her.  as we got up to leave her closet, baby girl was pointing and trying to tell me something.  so i grabbed one of her little cardigans and slipped it on her baby, thinking she wanted him dressed too.  "OFF!  OFF!"  as she pulled the sweater off.  okay... so you don't want your baby dressed.  alrighty then, we'll just head downstairs.  nope, that was definitely the wrong answer.  "BOW!" as she pointed to the baby's head.  ohhhhhh!!!!

i was a little confused at first since the baby has a plastic head and no way to clip on a hair bow.  i went to a different upstairs closet pulling out baby girls little headbands she doesn't wear anymore.  and place it on the little dolls head.  baby girl just giggled and cooed.  she was tickled pink!  and then she kept pulling it down over his forehead so it fit more like this...

y'know.  because that's how boys wear headbands.

this little girl is so smart.  i don't care if it's twenty something years away... i'm so excited for her to be a mom.

ps- my day today was soooooo far less than spectacular.  but seeing my little girl with her baby boy doll with size 4 diaper over his fleece footies and a white rocker headband across his forehead... well, that made me not want to curl up in the fetal position and give up on life.  ;-)  thank you for that baby girl.
