e-mail to liza

because i'm still feeling lazy about blogging, but trying to keep up the habit because i've made blogging goals, (yes, it's true.  remember when honey and i made goals? ) i'm copy/pasting an email i sent to my non-blogging sister tonight to recap my exciting adventures today buying cereal.  if you read this and you're not in my immediate family, i'm guessing you're just majorly bored and you should treat yourself to a golden oreo instead.

liza,

here's the report.

first stop was rite-aid.  it was a major fail.  not only was wisk not buy one get one free, but THEY HAD NO WISK.  like, i don't even think they carry it!  my wisk coupons are still in my purse.  sad news.  so i headed over to the diaper section.  those $19.99 boxes... do they come in anything less than a size three?  because this store was plenty empty in the diaper section that i'm not sure if they were out of stock or if they just don't make that kind of huggies that small.  it was really depressing and i left empty handed... oh wait.  no i didn't.  i looked at their ad while i was there and they had this yogurt and berries special k cereal (i've been wanting to try it for a long time) for buy one get one free.  so they were only $2.50 a box.  they never go on sale at safeway so i thought this was a good deal.

stopped by milk pail.  no coupons, no sales, just good prices and delicious fruit.  i know you don't care, but i'm on a roll.  i bought bananas, tomatoes, peaches, and a $1 cantaloupe that i know will be just as phenomenal as my last $1 cantaloupe.  yum!  i think i spent $4.00 or something.  totally worth it.

headed to safeway.  the only big container of yoplait they carry is PLAIN.  yuck.  i looked and looked... no vanilla.  maybe i'll go to the bigger safeway next time and they'll carry it?  not sure.  sometimes i feel like mom shopping in the congo.  the stores just don't have what i need!  i can't stand california.  i used a few coupons though... just a couple because some of the things just weren't there.  my biggest score at safeway was the nabisco cookie coupon i found on southern savers.  buy a pack of nabisco cookies and a gallon of milk and you get another pack of nabisco cookies for free (up to $4.19).  reviewing my receipt later though, i noticed in my coupon section that i had a coupon for $4.49.  hmmm weird.  then i remembered that that was the original price of the cookies.  but i got the ones that were already on sale for $3.00 and even though the coupon had a max value, it didn't ring up that way.  so i got my two things of oreos ($9.00 value) for $0.75 each.  woohoo!!!  i'm actually eating them as i type this.  i also got raisin bran on sale... three boxes for $5.00 and didn't even use my raisin bran coupons because the post brand was on sale and was cheaper than kellogs... even with the coupons for a dollar off.  my whole receipt was sale items.  it looks kinda funny.

stopped by CVS even though baby had woken up and hadn't eaten in 4.5 hours... um whoops, wasn't watching my timer.  ran in real quick to grab some cereal.  got two rice krispies and two corn pops all on sale for $1.77 and used my $1.00 off and $1.50 off coupons.  total was $4.58 i think.  even the lady at the register commented on what a great deal that was to get four boxes of cereal for that price.  i smiled.  it was fun.

then on the way home, baby fell asleep again.  good thing because i had to unload all those groceries... including my five gallons of milk.  did i tell you that's how many i have to buy EVERY time i go to the store?  and even then, it's the reason for my next trip.  i'd buy more so i don't have to go shopping as often, but our fridge isn't big enough.  what a pain.  when we live in a house, i want to be one of those people with an extra fridge in their garage.  it will be my special milk fridge.

thanks for talking to me on the phone for five hours this afternoon.

love you lots,
me

i got everything on sale except for my cheap brand milk and yogurt.

if only i liked water... i could save $13.45 every five days!

oh well, at least i got the cereal cheap.
