sweet moments - nap time

today was a really great day.  for the first time in a week, i slept in past 6am (honey and i are having trouble getting back on schedule and we keep waking up super early (think 4-5am), completely awake.  i actually slept in until 8 and was so confused when i woke up and my room was bright.  i guess i'm too used to waking up in the dark now.  anyways, the best part was that baby girl slept until after 9 so i had time to shower and get ready and make her breakfast and everything.  my days are sooo much better if i can just get clothes on before my baby wakes up.  ha.  so since i was showered and dressed, our morning was great.  baby was being so fun and also really patient while i got laundry and cleaning and stuff done.

then nap time came.  i asked baby girl if she was sleeping and wanted a nap and she nodded her head and we both headed up to her room.  this is normal for her but really?  this can't be too common among this age group, right?!  so she got a new diaper and some footie pjs and we sat in the glider to read a book.  but she kept telling me [somehow] that she wanted that blanket i keep draped over the back of the chair like in this picture.  i thought that was weird because she's never asked for it and when we try to get her to cuddle in bed with us, she hates being confined under the covers.  but she insisted that's what she wanted.  so i laid it over us and she pulled it up to her chin and would snuggle it up her to face.  i was in heaven.  but this sort of stuff (when it happens) normally only lasts for maaaybe 10 seconds before she's off running again.  she is a busy sort of girl.  but this time, she stayed still.

so i got out he bear she bear, which i love, because it is so fun and clever and upbeat.  she stayed absolutely motionless while i read through every word on every page.  that. has. never. happened.  she's normally anxiously turning pages as soon as i've read one word.  so i asked her if she wanted to read it again.  yes.  so then it happened again!  i couldn't believe it, so i tried my luck a third time.  and she stayed still and listened and only got a little squirmy during the last couple of pages.  there we were, she was reading a book from my sister, wearing pj's from my mother, and snuggling with her blanket from my wonderful friend carolyn.  it was amazing.

when baby girl gets squirmy reading she's normally ready to get in her crib.  so i asked her and she nodded her head yes (why is it that when she figured out how to nod her head, she decided the word "yes" was no longer necessary to her vocabulary?!  seriously, it was her first word and now she NEVER actually says it!) and we got up.  and then she hugged her arms around my neck and put her head on my shoulder.  so i couldn't let go!  not at a precious moment like that!  so i sang her a few verses of i am a child of god and then we prayed.  and normally baby girl puts her hands together for prayers (we never taught her this... she just does it.  and LOVES it.) but this time she just looked up and then wrapped her arms around tighter.  it was adorable.

and then i put baby girl in her crib, gave her the blanket, we blew some kisses and then i walked out of the room and marveled about how incredible my life is.
