i had so much fun with baby girl today. yesterday was not as fun because i swear she was only awake for about four hours of it. how do babies sleep so much?!?! awake one hour, sleep for at least three. repeat.
but today was more fun. the first part of the day was the awake/sleep routine.... or you could call it the 1/3. but tonight we got a little off the beaten path.
baby ate a 6. down in crib at 7. perfect. she would wake up at 10, eat, and then we would leave to get honey from the airport.
didn't happen though. baby woke up at 8. hadn't fallen back asleep by 8:15 so i got her out. i couldn't figure out what the problem was. she hung out with me and watched me fold laundry. when her contentment faded i considered that she might be hungry. fed her at 8:45. well that was definitely the problem. she ate like it was going to be her last meal... ever. i tried putting her back to bed, but it was too hot. remember what happens when it's too hot? so that didn't work. so she came downstairs with me to hang out while i ate (not a meal... just eating to eat) and read.
at some point she seemed fussy again so i laid down on the sofa and fed her. she ate some and fell asleep... sleep ate, and then just slept. I STAYED THERE AND LET HER SLEEP NEXT TO ME. i have never done this before!!! call me boring and anal but i've been really by the books on putting baby to sleep in her crib... awake. i. don't. part. from. this.
but there was no going upstairs for us. and i really didn't want to get off the sofa. and i was going to have to get her up to put her in her carseat in 30 minutes anyways. and she would have just woken up and gotten fussy from the heat and sleep deprivation. and she looked so cute cuddled next to me. and it was nighttime and i wanted her company.
so i let her stay.
and it felt good.
you know the good that comes from breaking the rules?
it's the same good i feel right now at 12:33 am as i continue to eat more than a half of a pan of brownies in one sitting...
that kind of good.

you rebel
My favorite thing in the world is rocking my babies to sleep. Before you know it she won't let you rock her to sleep because you're "squishing her" or "you're too big for her bed" or "your hair is on her pillow" or some other crazy reason. So be a rebel and snuggle with your baby, and enjoy it :)
